Casa do Ameal /Viana do Castelo

 Casa do Ameal is a very charming Minho-style Manor-house, built in 17 th century, located in

a beautiful mountain scenery; near river-Lima- and the Atlantic Ocean.

There are 8 very cozy,harmonious and well decorated  rustic apartments next to the main building.

Each apartment has it´s own kitchenette. The breakfast is served in a breakfast-room.

Casa Ameal is suitable for groups:painting etc (max:20 people); gardens of the house are

full of colourful flowers, plants and trees and interesting details.

Viana do Castelo is also paradise for handicraft-lovers.Here you get  extremely beautiful

hand-made embroideries on (linen)tissue.

 Some of the best surfing spots you´ll find here too.

Casa do Ameal is 2 km from the historical centre of Viana do Castelo

(capital of Minho region) and

20 km from Ponte de Lima (the oldest village in Portugal).

The Basilic of Santa Luzia lies on top of Santa Luzia Hill, where you have

fabulous views over the Ocean and the Lima-river.

 The blue and white pottery is very famous from Viana.

The most famous are definitively the filigree-hearts and other filigree items.
